The vampire had done it. Done something that had been deemed nearly impossible. Against all the odds. Against the longest-reigning Undisputed Champion, Anthony Caffrey. Against a former X*Crown Champion and Hall of Famer, Rob Arnold. After taking so much punishment and abuse, Vincent Draven was the only one walking backstage with the Undisputed Championship belt in his arms- Clenched tightly, with his sinister eyes glued onto it like it was the most beautiful thing he had ever laid his eyes on as he walked gingerly backstage, feeling the after-effects of such a match.
Though as he walked an individual seemed to catch up behind him with a microphone. It was BB Gunn. This... This was going to be his last interview it seemed. Though it was not the time to become sentimental, no, it was the time to get the interview from the new and last AXW Champion.
"Draven! Draven!'
"Yes? What is it?" The gothic prince looked up from the new prized possession that he held. Turning to the other man, Draven's face seemed.. different. No, it was the same androgynous pale goth with sharp, authentic fangs for teeth. But... He seemed both heavily satisfied and also.. a little saddened. An unusual emotion that he displayed, but it was quickly wiped away with one of his trademark, devilish smiles.
"After that final match of the night and of AXW history, what do you think about the two opponents you just faced off against and how do you feel at this mome-" The pale man raised a gloved hand to hush the interviewer, his lips parting. Gunn held the microphone out for Draven to respond quickly. The tired, beaten and bruised creature of the night took a deep inhale and closed his eyes. Collecting his thoughts, until he finally began to speak.
"Before we get started on any of those questions. Give me your phone." He simply said. Gunn stared confused for a few moments but complied nonetheless. Draven took the phone in his hand and cleared his throat. He had gotten used to smartphones now, though they had taken some adapting to... After all, Draven was a teeny, tiny, just a little bit more ancient than he appeared.
"Siri, how long ago was December the 21st, 2018?" Draven asked.
308 days. Siri replied.
"Ah... How unfortunate."
"Gunn, you just asked me what I think of the two opponents I had just faced tonight and I have much to say." Draven began. "You see I find it rather funny. I pointed out that Anthony Caffrey's arrogance, his narcissism would be his downfall. His attitude and his actions show him to be a disgrace to Anonymous Xtreme Wrestling, and it's about time someone had finally made him realize he is not an Emperor. He is not the Wrestling God. He is a man who deals with his emotional problems by channeling into being a cancer because it was the only thing that gave him a reason to live: belittling others and bastardizing this place. There's no doubt if he would have locked in The Process, he would have broken my ankle and the referee would have stopped the match. Except he didn't- He took his time watching and enjoying having power over me because of his pride, and that's what cost him. Rob Arnold? A man past his prime and desperately wanted to bank off the final AXW show, to feed that addiction of his one last time before he finally let it go. It was clear he didn't have the drive he did back when he was an active competitor, and if he would have run a bit faster- Had just a little more actual ambition, he would have broken up that pinfall. That said about those two.."
"They gave me something I can never repay. And that was the greatest match I have went through in so many years. Anthony Caffrey may be everything I just said he was, but he was the longest-reigning Undisputed Champion for a reason. A good reason. His talent, his exceptional ability, is that of a true fighter. I absolutely despise him and yet I am also quite fond of him for that. His skill is fantastic, and I have to admit- He has earned my respect. Rob Arnold may not have been in his peak, but for someone has not been in a ring for nearly a year- He gave me his absolute best and plenty of times nearly had me. Rob Armold was an ace in his time, and dare I say- the traits of that once ace is still there and are still just as strong. He's resilient, and he also proved that he still had that fighter in him, and I hope he's at peace with his decision to retire for good. I couldn't have asked for a better fight, a better grand finale… So for that?"
Draven paused.
"Thank you both."
"But don't get the wrong idea, I hold this belt now for a reason- and proved that it was only inevitable that I would have it. No matter how many legends you throw at me. If anyone has a problem with that, specifically the two men I was just referring to… Well, too bad. Bite me." Draven bared his fangs with a black-hearted laugh.
"As I was saying earlier, how do you feel at this moment? How do you feel as the final Champion and the closing of AXW?"
"It's.. upsetting I admit. Upsetting, but rewarding. I've had.. plenty of matches here. From my first against King Edmund and.. Raymond Harding. To the bastard, Tommy Holiday that I hope is rotting in hell somewhere. To Liam Bradley, he put on one hell of a fight, by the way. To Darlene Price.. and now, the ending. This place... This place had the.chaos that I craved. The brutality and such, I loved every single moment I had here. Even against some of the more pathetic competitors I had encountered."
"If I had a chance.. I'd do it all over again."
"As the one with this championship, I'm going to do what I promised. Though I've said that enough, haven't I? Let's just say.. AXW will not be forgotten."
"Is there anything you would like to say to the viewers. One final message?"
Draven turned to face the camera, taking a few deep breaths.
"There's a lot I could say. Some heartfelt, sentimental message that would make the crowd begin weeping in the chairs. Or something clever. I could start bragging a little more about what I have in my arms at the moment. I could do as Caffrey would and belittle the crowd. Instead? My final message is..."
"This was AXW… And we. Were. Anonymous. Goodnight."
